If you no longer wish to use Facebook, you can remove or deactivate the program instead of removing it.

First and foremost, you must select whether you want to permanently erase your Facebook account or simply deactivate it.

Deactivating your account generally means that your profile will no longer be public, but your friends will still be able to see your name in their friend list, and any messages you've written to them will still be available.

When you cancel your Facebook account, any pages you control will be removed as well.

You may easily reinstate your account once it has been deactivated by just signing in.

You may still keep Facebook Messenger running even if your account is disabled.

When you delete your account, however, all of your personal information is removed from the Facebook server. Your account, messages, and pages will be removed from your control.

If you log in to your account again within 30 days of requesting deletion, your deletion request will be canceled.

It's also worth noting that the process for deleting your Facebook account differs depending on whether you're using a desktop computer or a mobile phone.

On a PC, here's how to remove a Facebook account:

Follow the steps below to deactivate your Facebook account if you're using a computer.

Step 1: Go to Facebook and sign in using your account.

Step 2: In the upper right corner, tap the Arrow button.

Step 3: Select "Settings & Privacy" from the drop-down menu, then "Settings."

Then, in the side column, click "Your Facebook Information."

Step 4: Select "Deactivation and deletion" from the drop-down menu.

Click "Continue to Account Deletion" after selecting "Delete Account."

Click "Delete Account" on step 5. Click "Continue" after entering your password.

After 30 days, your account will be deactivated.

How to remove a Facebook account on a mobile device

Step 1: Tap the "Menu" icon in the bottom right corner of the Facebook app.

Step 2: Scroll down and hit "Settings and Privacy," then "Settings," then "Personal and account information" under the Account section.

Step 3: Select "Account ownership and control," then "Deactivation and deletion" from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Select "Delete account," then click the "Continue to account deletion" button at the bottom of the screen.

Facebook will ask you why you wish to remove your account, and if you select a reason, it will try to suggest alternatives.

Simply click the "Continue to account termination" button to bypass this step.

Before you delete anything, you'll be given various alternatives to consider.

You will be able to download your data or move it to another provider, for example.

Hit the "Delete account" button at the bottom of the page.

You can cancel your account deletion if it has been less than 30 days since you started it.

Your account and all of your information will be permanently erased after 30 days, and you will not be able to retrieve it.
